COOMA-Monaro Council's new economic development and tourism promotions manager is Caroline Fox.
Caroline, who grew up in Cooma, has been a tourism consultant at the Cooma Visitors Centre for almost seven years, and was delighted to be the successful applicant for the new position.
Caroline said she has a great love of Cooma and the Snowy Mountains, and is proud to work at the dynamic visitors centre. Her particular responsibilities there, over the years, have included booking council facilities, event co-ordination, maintenance of the regional calendar of events, development of Cooma-Monaro's Cultural Map website, and administration support for Tourism Snowy Mountains.
Greg Roberts, the previous tourism promotions manager, left the visitors' centre early this year to establish his own business as an independent consultant in tourism. Although his work takes him all around the State, he is still based in the Snowy Mountains and he continues to be a great advocate of the work of the Cooma Visitors Centre.
Following his departure, the position of tourism promotions manager was reviewed by council, and the economic development aspect was integrated into the structure.
The responsibility of the economic development and tourism promotions manager is to promote Cooma within the local region and the region throughout the State and beyond; as well as to encourage the establishment and development of businesses in this council area.
"My list of performance measures is considerable," Caroline says, "But I look forward to getting my teeth into the new job, and I am glad to be working with the team at the visitors centre, as well as with local operators."
