Fifty Pony Club riders converged on Adaminaby for the 2009 Mother’s Day Gymkhana. The focus of the day was sporting events, with the Zone 18 sporting championships being decided. Zone 18 covers Adaminaby, Nimmitabel, Snowy River, Cooma, Jindabyne, Cathcart and Bombala Pony Clubs.

Jumping, riding and bareback riding classes completed the program. Judges Carl Power (riding) and Peter Evans (showjumping) put plenty of time and enthusiasm into their tasks. Taya Evans, a member of Nimmitabel Pony Club, designed a flowing course for the showjumping.

Pony Clubs help young riders to enjoy riding and learn to care for their horses as well. It’s not about having the most expensive horse or saddlery.
