IN a rough and fast paced game, the Red Devils triumphed against Yass on Saturday winning 51-5.
Ryan Morgan made an early break for the Devils, kicking a penalty goal in the first few minutes.
Shortly after that, Charlie Quodling scored after pushing his way through the much bigger Yass pack and Ryan Morgan then converted the try.
Morgan then sprinted past the Yass boys to score a fantastic try himself and added another conversion.
In fine kicking form, Morgan proceeded to kick another penalty goal.
With the Red Devils running away with the game, they lost their concentration and Yass took advantage of this bringing the half time score to 20-5.
The Devils had a slower start to the second half but made up for it with excellent play by Tim Casanova who assisted Ryan Morgan with his second try of the game.
Damien Hopkins, Pat O'Ryan and Steve Boate all scored tries with successful conversions by Morgan.
Coach Jim McKenzie said the boys played really well given they have had two weeks off.
"We had a really good turn out at training this week and I believe this is the basis of our win.
"Yass had a bigger side than us but we did have a game plan in place to disrupt them.
"It was a really good game, I was surprised how competitive the game was considering the score," said McKenzie.
Manager Richard Clarke said he was really delighted with the way the boys played.
"Despite the score, the first half was really tight.
"Compared to our squad, Yass' squad was quite limited and they got puffed quickly," said Clarke.
Clarke added that Yass did put up a good fight but in the end it was the Devils that dominated.
"The teams weren't as far apart as the score suggested.
"However on the day we had the home advantage and a good squad which lead us to the win," Clarke said.
