After claiming the Australian kick boxing title in June, local fighter Charlie Thompson is continuing his success in the ring.
Thompson, of Chakola, who took out the Australian kick boxing title in the middle weight division on June 23, recently won a four man elimination tournament in Queensland.
Fighting with full Muay Thai rules, which allows the use of elbows and knees, Thompson won both his fights by knockout.
He flew to Toowoomba on November 3 to contest the super welter weight division with a first prize of $1,000.
Thompson faced up against Craig Muscat of Brisbane in his first fight and won by knockout in the third round.
For his second fight, Thompson was up against David McDonald who holds the QLD title. Thompson won by knockout in just the second round to win the tournament.
Thompson was pleased with the results and said they were both hard fights.
He would like to thank his trainer Peter Foster, formerly of Cooma, for all his support and his boss Steve Dalton at Jindabyne Smash Repairs.
He said that without their support he would not be able to do the sport he loves.
With family by his side for the event, Thompson said it meant more than anything to have their support when not fighting in your home town.
