As the course dries out a little for summer and the greens gain in pace, scores over the last week are starting to improve.
On Saturday a single stableford medley was played in three grades with Brad Burke taking out A grade with a (below handicap) 40 points. In B grade the winner was Sam Patricks with 38 points. C grade was taken out by Doug Snowden with a round of the day 41 points. Ball winners went down to Bill Keefe with 35 points. Nearest the pins went to sweet swinging Brad Burke on the 17th and Tony Monday on the 9th. In the long drive stakes A Grade was taken out by Mark Van Ommen and C grade went to Alan Kelly. B grade was a real mystery?
On Sunday a single medley stableford was contested. Brian Searle took out A grade with 32 points (on a countback), B grade was won by Prawit Prakotasung with 38 points and C grade was clearly Marion Burkes prize with a round of the day 39 points. Ball winners went down to 31 points with Brian Turner just getting home. Nearest the pin on the 9th was Prawit Prakotasung and Denis Minehan hit one nice and close on the 17th.
Last Wednesday November 28 was a single stableford with 29 players in the field. Club champion Adam Robinson had a great round of 68 off the stick to take out A grade with 41 points. B grade went to Chris Brown with a fine 39 points. C grade winner was Bill Dyball with 35 points. Ball winners went down to 32 points with Roy Kerr just scraping home.
Next week sees a single stableford on Wednesday, a single medley stroke on Saturday and the Nell Horsfall mixed Irish Fourball on Sunday. It's a big week of golf folks with the Wednesday afternoon daylight saving competition and the Phoenix Social 9 holes on Friday afternoon on as well.
