Eighty-four bowlers from across the country converged at Adaminaby on the weekend to contest the 27th annual Trout Triples Tournament
Run over two days, the event was conducted in typical mountain summer weather conditions on Saturday it was very hot and early Sunday morning saw bowlers scurrying to find warm jackets to combat the cooler temperatures.
Players from Ulladulla, Tathra, Tuross Head, Batemans Bay, Yass, Canberra, Queanbeyan, Nowra, Khancoban and Tumut as well as locally from Nimmitabel, Jindabyne, Cooma and Adaminaby entered the tournament and played five games over two days.
The winners made up of a composite team were Peter Schroeder, Cooma playing lead, Joan Clayton, Ulladulla 2nd, and John Clayton, Ulladulla skip. Runners up were another composite squad of Phil Jeffries Queanbeyan lead, Shaun Robertson Queanbeyan 2nd, Ralph Fair Khancoban skip.
Men's Bowls President, Peter Daal said the reason this tournament attracts such top quality players from so many Clubs was because Adaminaby and its highly valued sponsors were able to offer more than $3000 in prize money. He said he hoped all visiting and local bowlers who travel throughout the region will remember them and their establishments, without their continuing support this event would not be possible.
