Closed Circuit Television cameras (CCTV) will be installed at Monaro High School in a bid to curb vandalism and theft.
The school will receive the cameras as part of the NSW Government's Security Initiatives Program.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the cameras would improve the security of the school's facilities and assets.
Monaro High School principal Adrian Bell welcomed the addition of the CCTV cameras.
"I think any measure to upgrade the security of the school is a positive thing," Mr Bell said.
"It will assist on weekends and holidays when we don't have staff on site."
He said Monaro High School was a great school that was safe for staff and students.
"There is very little vandalism here. Occasionally we might get the broken window or bin turned over.
"Some other schools have put in fences right around the school but that isn't needed here. It is very safe."
He said the CCTV cameras were an extra measure to protect the school's assets.
