Cooma will host some of the best air rifle shooters from across Australia this week as part of the Australian Air Rifle Championships.
The event kicked off on Monday and is being held at the Cooma-Monaro Air Rifle Club.
More than 100 shooters are registered for the championships including about 20 locals.
Competitors, which include Olympic shooters, travelled from Victoria and across NSW.
Cooma Monaro Air Rifle Club president Robert Taylor said it was the biggest event for the club and was hosted by the Cooma club every five years.
"We've got the facilities here for this type of event," he said.
"It is graded as one of the top ranges in the state.
"Many people who come here make it a holiday at the same time."
Mr Taylor invited spectators to head along and watch the action at the club located at the Ti-Tree Racecourse.
There is the King, Queen, Junior and Prize shoots held across each day of competition with a Golden Oldies shoot on Tuesday at 5.30pm, the team shoot on Wednesday and the singles shoot on Thursday. The week long event will conclude with a mystery trip, dance and presentation on Friday.
