Security guard charged after man knocked unconscious at CBD bar

A security guard has been charged by police after a man was knocked unconscious outside a bar in Sydney's CBD.

Police and paramedics were called to Side Bar on Pitt Street in Haymarket just before midnight on Monday and found a 25-year-old man lying on the ground unconscious.

The man was allegedly assaulted outside the bar and struck his head on the pavement.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before taking him to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where scans revealed he had no serious head injuries.

Police arrested a 22-year-old security guard outside the bar and took him to City Central Police Station. He was questioned and charged with one count of affray.

The security guard was given bail and is due to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on February 26.

Police are still investigating the incident, and have appealed for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
