There was plenty of heated competition at the Snowy Hydro Netball Courts on Wednesday when more than 230 school students pivoted, dodged, intercepted and shot for goal in the Cooma Netball Association annual school netball carnival.
Netball has grown in popularity locally in recent years and it was great to see newcomers to the game and also the finesse of more experienced players on the courts.
The warm weather was a stark contrast to the cold and wet day experienced last year and the day drew in players from around the region from schools in Cooma, Bombala and Jindabyne.
The school netball carnival is held each year as a pre-season event for the Cooma Netball Association - their Saturday competition season runs from March to July.
All schools were fighting for the Cooma Netball perpetual trophy that was up for grabs, which was held by Bombala Primary School and Jindabyne Central (High) School in 2012.
The Primary School Perpetual Trophy was this year won by Bombala Public School for the second consecutive year. Secondary School Perpetual Trophy was won by Snowy Mountains Grammar School.
Cooma Netball Association facilitates this annual carnival every year. Thanks must go out to all volunteers on the day.
