IT was like a winter wonderland across parts of the shire last week as unseasonable cold weather brought snow to some areas.
There were reports of snowfall at Nimmitabel, Adaminaby, and Jindabyne last Thursday afternoon. It came after a warm start to spring with temperatures around 20 degrees for the first week of the season.
But in typical fashion, the warmth was short lived, as temperatures dropped to the low teens on Thursday.
Now heavy rain is predicted for the week ahead as a slow-moving low pressure system will cross the region, delivering widespread rain to Tuesday, heaviest on and west of the ranges and in the south.
Between 20-80 millimetres was predicted in Cooma on Monday, according to weatherzone.com.au.
