The weather is slowly warming up as summer approaches, and that means one thing. It's time to make a splash at the pool.
The Cooma Festival Swimming pool opened its door for the season on Tuesday after the winter hiatus.
It may have been a little windy and wet outside, but that was no deterrent for keen swimmers. Nor should it be, with the pool well protected from the wind and elements and heated at a temperature often warmer in the water than outside.
The opening of the pool marks the start of the warmer months and swimming events ahead.
Pool manager Lorraine Alford said there were many things planned for the season.
"In March we will have the Swimathon on again and the inflatables will be back during the Christmas school holidays," she said.
"We are still running the funded lessons for disability learn to swim and people can contact me about that.
"We have birthday parties, you can book in for that and Wednesday is club night."
Squad and swimming lessons will start up again soon. To enquire contact Michelle Thomas.
The pool is open from 6am to 6.30pm on weekdays, except Wednesday when it closes at 5.30pm, and 10am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.
