Monaro Regional Libraries (MRL) is connecting with the community in new ways, recently launching its own Facebook page over winter.
MRL manager Pam Veiss said Facebook gave the library new opportunities to build connections across the large geographic area the service covers.
"The launch into social media is part of MRL's interest in hearing from people across the region and that means opening the lines of communication in many different ways.
"We are currently redesigning our website, have an online survey that we would love people to fill out (http://bit.ly/mrlsurvey) and now we are able to receive feedback and ideas on Facebook (www.facebook.com/MonaroRegionalLibraries). We would love to hear from all of you," Ms Veiss said.
"One of the interesting aspects of the MRL Facebook Page is that unlike the general use of Facebook, here across the Monaro, we have a high proportion of women and people in the over fifties age group that have 'liked us'".
The launch of the Facebook page was celebrated with a 'like us' incentive which gave people across the region a chance to win one of two $50 book gift vouchers.
Heather Willis won a $50 Snow Print Bookshop Jindabyne gift voucher and Ms Amy Grose won a $50 Pages of Life Bookshop Cooma gift voucher for 'liking' Monaro Regional Facebook Page.
