TWO locals are the new owners at a major business in town, the High Country Automotive Group.
David Crawford and Steve Ganitis have joined forces to head up the successful automotive business which employs more than 30 local people including six apprentices.
Between them they have about 36 years experience in the car industry and are focused on making customer service their number one priority.
Mr Crawford, has worked in the motor trade since 1987, including as general manager at the High Country Automotive Group for the past six years.
He is also a qualified and experienced automotive mechanic/technician and spare parts interpreter and has worked in other local car dealerships in Cooma.
His business partner, Mr Ganitis, has worked in the industry for 10 years and as a business manager at High Country Automotive for the past two years and is a specialist in finance and insurance as well as sales.
Mr Crawford said he will continue to lead the way as dealer/principal for Toyota and Subaru as well as continuing in his role of general manager of the group.
"Having worked in Cooma in the automotive industry for the past 26 years, I know what locals want," Mr Crawford said.
"Steve and I are fully focused on customers, who are number one."
Mr Ganitis will now be dealer/principal for Nissan and Hyundai as well as business manager for the group.
"My history is retail car sales," Mr Ganitis said.
"We are very lucky, we've got four financiers and insurers in the dealership. Our customers get some amazing deals."
Mr Crawford said the High Country Automotive Group is one of the larger employers in Cooma.
"We also sell to a lot of businesses outside of town and bring business into the town," Mr Crawford said.
"We support local events throughout the year and have sponsored the Sundowner Cup [at the Cooma Races] for the past three years, as well as supporting, the Cooma Golf Club open days, the Cooma Bowling Club, Cooma Soccer Club and the local schools to name but a few.
"But our biggest is probably the St Vincent De Paul's Christmas Appeal and have been supporting that charity for the last three years."
High Country Automotive Group encompasses Cooma Toyota, Cooma Nissan, High Country Subaru, High Country Hyundai and Cooma Toyota Used Cars.
"We thank all the community for their support over the years," Mr Crawford said.
"We are really focused on customer service which is our number one priority, keeping it local, keeping local people in jobs and attracting people to town, and look forward to working with the local community."
