It was a day of celebration in Cooma last Friday to recognise International Day of People with a Disability.
There was a sense of community spirit and unity when students from Monaro High and St Patrick's Parish school came together with teachers and representatives from Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC), the Cancer Council and other supporters to enjoy Celebrate Ability Day.
The day started with a walk along the bike path on Church Road to Centennial Park followed by more festivities including a barbecue and some music in the park.
The day is designed to celebrate the diversity and achievements of people with a disability and is all part of the Don't DIS My ABILITY campaign, which culminates in the United Nation's International Day of People with a Disability on December 3.
The Cooma event was hosted by ADHC, with other organisations helping run the event including Workability, Monaro High, Cooma Public School, Monaro Early Intervention Centre and Cooma Challenge.
