Community Chest night a huge success

More than $10,000 has been raised by the Community Chest at its first major fundraising event.

A dinner dance was held at Cooma Hotel's function room on Saturday night where guests were treated to champagne and cheese on arrival, a two-course meal and a lolly bar for dessert.

The money was raised from an auction of 16 items donated by businesses and the community.

The successful auction also attracted outside bids on the night.

The guests then had some fun with the photo booth and then danced the night away to the amazing band Hit Parade.

The next Community Chest event will be its annual garage sale day on Saturday February 15, 2014. The Community Chest are asking Cooma and surrounding areas’ residents to hold their own garage sale. You retain all of your earnings for the day, all you need to do is pay a $20 registration fee and the Community Chest will promote and distribute information about your garage sale. The aim is to have as many sales being held in Cooma and surrounding areas on that one day, with community stalls and markets spread throughout the town. If you are interested please visit the Fabric Salon or email thecommunitychest@hotmail.com.
