Cooma residents Judy Goggin and Paul McIver have both been listed as finalists in The Bega Art Prize.
The award is designed to showcase the rich diversity of art, craft and design in the South East Arts (SEA), with artists encouraged to take their inspiration from the regional environment. More specifically, the exhibition is predicated on the wilderness coast thematic ' in the shadow of the mountains'.
* The categories this year included Photomedia and Small Sculpture. Ms Goggin and Mr McIver both entered the Photomedia section.
The Bega Art Prize is non-acquisitive and is open to artists living within the SEA region including Cooma Monaro, Eurobodalla, Bega Valley, Snowy River and Bombala Shires.
The Bega Art Prize is proudly sponsored by the Bega Valley Shire Council and first prize is $5000. A People's Choice Award is with $1000.
The exhibition is opening today at the Bega Valley Regional Gallery, with guest speaker Dr Denise Ferries, Head of the ANU School of Art. This year's winners will be announced at the opening today. Works will be on exhibition until February 1, 2014.
