Nimmitabel gets a lick of paint

The Nimmitabel Community Centre is soon to sport a fresh coat of paint.

Monaro MP John Barilaro has presented members of the Nimmitabel Advancement Group with a cheque for $8,140.

The funding, from the NSW government's Community Building Partnerships program, will be used to paint the exterior of the Community Centre.

"Community centres play an important role in our communities," Mr Barilaro said.

"They provide places where people from a range of backgrounds and interests can interact, learn, recreate, be supported and grow." The Nimmitabel Community Centre is an important and well used facility; this injection of funds will help to ensure that it remains up to scratch now and into the future.

"I'm pleased that the government saw fit to make funding available for this project, local construction jobs and businesses will also benefit from this project."

More than 1315 community projects across NSW will share in $90 million allocated to Community Building Partnership program over four years.

The Monaro Electorate has been allocated $200,000 to fund a number of community projects.

"There was strong competition for the available funds and a high level of interest from the community with over 2,700 applications received across the state in total," said Mr Barilaro.

"The NSW government is getting on with the job to rebuild NSW by investing almost $60 billion for infrastructure across the State over the next four years.

"I look forward to seeing the benefits to our communities as projects are undertaken and put into use across the Monaro."
