Two young Cooma athletes have embarked on the experience of a life time, setting off for New Zealand last week as part of the NSW Little Athletics Trans Tasman team tour.
Cooma Little Athletics Centre athlete Nick Zusak (under 12) and Jordan Davis (under 11) flew out to Auckland New Zealand last Thursdy with a group of other promising young athletes from across the State for a 10 day tour.
The Trans Tasman tour is for under 11 and under 12 athletes from NSW.
Every second year, a team from NSW (boys and girls in both the U11 and U12 age groups), travel to Auckland for the Trans Tasman Tour. On alternate years, a team from Auckland travels to Sydney.
It is primarily an educational tour, with exposure to people of another country, their customs, heritage and environment.
They will also take part in several athletic competitions, culminating in the Trans Tasman Challenge.
Zusak will compete in the 100 metre and 200 metre sprint, long jump and discus while Davis will take part in Shot Put and some track events.
The Trans Tasman tour has been running since 1978.
