There was no better place to be than the Festival Swimming Pool in Cooma this week as temperatures soared into the high thirties.
It was the perfect place for parents to take their children during the school holidays to cool down.
On Tuesday the mercury rose to 37.4C according to the Bureau of Meteorology, making it the hottest day in town in almost a year.
Temperatures were again expected to hit 38C on Wednesday and again on Thursday, while it was predicted to rise to a top of 39C on Friday.
There is little relief in sight from the heat wave that has hit much of South-East Australia with the seven day forecast showing a maximum temperature of 26C on Sunday, the lowest for the week.
