A new development program for local rugby league players making the transition to under 16s and under 18s will be launched in February.
The Rovers Rugby League Development program is being run in conjunction with Cooma Stallions and Cooma Colts Junior Rugby League.
Four training sessions will be held during February and March in the lead up to the pre-season, with the aim of improving skill levels and fitness for all players, promote recovery techniques and discuss nutrition and hydration.
Retired Raiders captain Alan Tongue will lead skills based field sessions during session 1. NRL Development Officer Damien Kennedy will speak to the group about preparation, recovery, anti-social behaviour and also drug and alcohol issues at one of the sessions. Current Stallions captain coach Steve Dunn and player Todd Williams, as well as ex-player Ty Fallins will complete drills, skills and ball sessions with the upcoming players.
The 2013 South Coast Academy Representatives Zane Weston, Joel Smith and Blayne Thomas will also be attending.The
Cooma Rovers have donated $1,000 for the program.
The sessions will be held at the Cooma Showground and start on February 22.
Cooma Stallions start training in all grades on Tuesday February11, 6pm at Cooma Showground.
