You may know him as the commander of the Cooma fire brigade. Or member of the Cooma Lions Club.
Or it may be one of his many other involvements in the local community.
Chris Reeks wears many hats in contributing to the local community and for this he has received a special achievement award presented by Cooma-Monaro Shire Council as part of its Australia Day celebrations.
Mr Reeks has set up a junior Lions Club, established the Prostate Cancer Support Group, been an active member of the Cooma Hospital Consultation Committee, and was catering organiser for the Blazeaid volunteers last year.
He is also a driving force for the Yamaga-Cooma exchange program, a joint program between Cooma-Monaro Shire Council and the Lions Club of Cooma, which allows students to participate in a cultural exchange. The commitment of Mr Reeks to ensure this happens every year was described as being truly commendable. He is described as being a humble man who deserves to be recognised by the local community.
