Snowy Mountains Christian School has welcomed its new Principal Mark Ogilvie.
Mr Ogilvie has been Principal of an international Christian school in Bali, Indonesia, and has been enjoying the hot weather in Cooma, being used to living in the tropics.
"When I first arrived in Cooma last month, I took a deep breath and sucked up the fresh air," he said. He loves the natural beauty of Cooma and the surrounds.
Mr Ogilvie has a passion for Christian education.
"Complete whole education is not just about knowledge and grades, it should be totally immersed in teaching values and developing character in students," he said.
"Christian education is about renewing of our minds and the transforming of our life towards God and others. "
Snowy Mountains Christian School (SMCS) is a small school of just over 100 students from K-10. The school community is close, warm and involved. Students have the opportunity to receive greater attention and care with smaller class sizes and the home school relationships between parents and staff are highly productive and strong.
Mr Ogilvie said that SMCS has quality teachers who are dedicated to teaching and genuinely love children. The staff and volunteers have passion and drive for the school resulting in productive learning and interactions of children.
"Our school is not just a learning centre, it is a thriving local community. Students not only excel in academics, but we have had great success in swimming, skiing, and debating as well.
"I am thrilled to be here, both at Snowy Mountains Christian School, and in Cooma," he said.
