Barilaro seeks second term

THE Member for Monaro John Barilaro has been formally endorsed as the Nationals candidate for Monaro in the 2015 state election - and quickly challenged the Labor Party to select its candidate.

The endorsement was approved at a Nationals Monaro Electorate Council meeting in Queanbeyan.

"With all I've seen and done over the past three years, there can no longer be any peace for me outside of representing our communities, there is too much to be done and too little time to do it," he said.

"This role keeps me from my family but it affords me the tremendous privilege to serve my constituents to the best of my ability and get the results that they need."

Mr Barilaro said Labor should move fast in preselecting their candidate.

"I'm ready to start the conversation about my Party's priorities for the next four years and I would encourage the Labor Party to swiftly select their candidate so we can get this show on the road."

Releasing a list of achievements, Mr Barilaro said he was committed to delivering improved health services, greater investment in police, education and transport and rebuilding the economy through lower taxes and business growth.

"I will continue to engage and work with the community and local government to gauge what their vision is for this region.

"The Monaro region holds a special place in my heart, having grown up, lived, run a business and raised a family here. I am proud to represent this region and I'm passionate about seeking a second term and continuing to achieve positive outcomes for the Monaro."
