THE MONARO Utility Dog Club celebrated its third trial in the comfort of the indoor dressage arena at the Jindabyne Equestrian Resort on Saturday from 7.30am to 7.30pm.
Well-known trialler, judge and trainer Chris Sellars from Brungle (near Tumut) took out the top Open event with his classy all black Kelpie Beaver - with 192 points. The close, thrilling final saw some bad luck with some break aways and jammed sheep in races, creating challenges for the competitors.
One of the event organisers Neil Lynch of Cooma said the committee was very happy with strong interest shown in the dog trial with a good crowd of spectators visiting the indoor arena throughout the day.
"The set up for the event proved to be a difficult and challenging obstacle course for the Maiden and Novice dogs and their handlers," Mr Lynch said.
Celebrating its 25th year, Mr Lynch thanked all the many sponsors and supporters of the trial, the helpers and committee members which made for such a successful event.
