Raising funds for farmers

EDITOR: My name is Michelle Johnston. I live in rural Cooma and I am fund raising for the official Aussie Helpers website which is an organisation that raises funds for farmers in drought stricken areas.

I just wanted to get my story out there about helping other people in times of need. It would be great to see all the local businesses chip in and lend a hand in my fund raising efforts to help those farmers that work so hard to keep the farming industry alive and provide food on our tables. They are very special people and they deserve all the help they can receive.

I have done a certificate 2 in agriculture and am waiting to do my certificate 3 in agriculture to one day get into the agriculture industry.

So I hope this story helps to get the word out there about raising funds to help our farmers who are in need of help in this terrible drought .

I am going around all the local business houses in Cooma asking for money donations which I will then put in the account of the official Aussie Helpers which then distributes the money to the farmers so they can buy essential goods. The Official Aussie Helpers have a website and facebook page. People can head over and check it out, they are a great organisation and do fantastic work.

My contact details are 0404366601. Cooma Rural will have a collection tin in their store for this great cause and also Cooma Pet Shop will have a collection tin also.

The website for this organisation is www.aussiehelpers.org.au
