Smith smashes 165

Zach Smith put on one of the best displays of batting seen at Rotary Oval on Saturday, scoring 165 runs against Dalgety.

Coffeys were sent in to bat on a tacky Rotary wicket and lost two early wickets.

The decision to send Coffeys in to bat first looked to be a good one, before Smith entered the crease.

Smith dispatched the Dalgety bowlers to all parts of the ground, and with S. Summerville (86*) who played a great support role, Coffeys posted 3/260.

Dalgety put up some solid resistance against the often hostile Coffeys attack with E. Hogan getting an early life before being dismissed for 49. B. Smith 36 played a late cameo but the large run chase was always going to be a tough one with Dalgety 9/200 at the end of play.

A. Moon the pick of the bowlers with 4/40.

The win puts Coffeys into second on the ladder behind Jindabyne.

In their top of the table clash, Jindabyne 7/272, L. Tombstone 132*, D. O'Brien 39 defeated Berridale all out 201 L. Redmond 87.

In the final match of round four of the Cooma McDonald's two day competition, the Alpine needed a win to secure their place in the semi-finals but failed once again and were bowled out by the Cats for 100 with the Cats batsmen easily passing the low Alpine total.
