A Michelago man drove at more than 150 km per hour on the Monaro Highway with his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter in the car before skidding through a fence and crashing into a paddock. He breath-tested over the alcohol limit.
Police were patrolling the Monaro Highway at Colinton (50km north of Cooma) on Sunday at 5.43pm when they detected the speeding Toyota sedan travelling in the opposite direction.
The 30-year-old driver accelerated suddenly after police activated their warning lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
Police pursued the car which reached speeds of more than 150km per hour.
When the driver attempted to turn off the highway, he lost control of his car, went through a fence before ending up in a paddock.
Police arrested and breath tested the driver who returned a reading of 0.143 - a mid range concentration of alcohol.
He has been charged with driving recklessly, with a mid range concentration of alcohol and failing to stop during a police pursuit.
The driver will face Cooma Local Court on April 22.
