The first time it happened - when the new ornamental wall at Macks Corner in Cooma was sideswiped by a truck and mostly knocked over - most people thought it was 'one of those things.'
It was night-time, after all.The second time they thought - Oh no, not again - when a large loaded truck failed to negotiate the corner and demolished the wall for the second time.
The council was quick to respond and within days the wall had been reconstructed. But it only took a few more days before another truck, under cover of darkness again on Wednesday night, turning left from Sharp Street into Bombala Street outside Macks Auto, gave the wall a third almighty whack.
How embarrassing. Now council workmen have moved up the street and are working on the corner at the Sharp Street-Vale Street roundabout, which optimists think will cause less havoc.
In the meantime, 'witches hats' have become a permanent feature at Macks Corner, which seems to defeat the purpose.
