Open triples decided

The much anticipated Cooma Bowling Club's open triples has now been completed and thanks to the sponsors, Downer Constructions (from the wind farm), Bowling Club Insurance Brokers, High Country Hyundai and Bistro on the Green, $2,250 was up for grabs in prize money plus several items of merchandise donated by Downer.

Twenty teams of three faces the starter on Saturday, with players from Cooma, Adaminaby, Bombala, Queanbeyan and Nimmitbael with results determining contestants in the three separate divisions on Sunday.

Division one had six teams, division two eight, division three six teams. This format allowed a more even spread of the prize money and to some extent overcame the possibility of stronger teams gaining an advantage by drawing a weaker opponent.

Division one winners- Peter Caldwell, Daphne Buckley and Rulie Steinfort. Runners up- Geoff Venables, Renate Winckel and Jack Sajina.

Division two winners- Peter Schroeder, Lyn McMahon and Peter Marsicano.

Runners up- Paul Cannell, Brian Seears and Sergio Roncelli.

Division three winners- Ignazio Mondello, Leonie Snell and Ron Wainwright. Runners up- Richard Nichols, Colin Whiting and Teresa Botto.

Highest scorer on day one not to have won a prize Garry Taylor, Kim Weston and Elaine Taylor. On day two M. Storta, A. Brooks and Dave Paul.

Everyone who took part appears to have had an enjoyable weekend and thanks must go to Geoff Venables and Neil McGregor for preparing the greens and to Tom Reed and Colin Roberson for preliminary organisation.

There are no reports of anyone remaining hungry or thirty during the weekends thanks to Bistro on the Green and Sherry Seears, Gordon and Kaye behind the bar.
