LOCAL sports enthusiasts are set to enjoy the spoils of a $26,500 grant to upgrade facilities in Michelago.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro presented the Michelago Region Community Association with the funding last week, to be used for upgrades to the local tennis court and subsidise tennis lessons.
"The grant comes courtesy of the NSW Government's Participation and Facility Program and assists grassroots organisations improve local sporting facilities as well as encouraging people to get involved in recreational activities," Mr Barilaro said.
"By improving the grassroots infrastructure, the NSW Government is also helping to strengthen our local community through sport. Improved facilities make sport more accessible and in turn encourage more people to get off the couch and get active.
"I'm delighted to announce funding for such a worthwhile project; I congratulate the work that the Michelago community do to promote healthy lifestyles."
