High school upgrade is all class

THE offices of Monaro High School are undergoing renovations to improve their administration building this month. The school applied for funding through their properties department and were successful.

It's still early days as construction on the building begun at the end of March, however major progress has already been made. With one half of the original office building being completely renovated, the other half will remain the same.

The building was originally built in the late 1950's with renovations desperately needed. Principal Adrian Bell said the new administration office will provide a more welcoming and friendlier entrance for teachers, students and parents.

Mr Bell said was important to hire a locally owned Cooma construction company, Full On Constructions, so that work on the project could stay local. The company have taken on board three of Monaro High's construction students for work experience, which has provided a good opportunity for them to get involved in the new transformation and potentially begin an apprenticeship with the company.

Construction is expected to be finished after the long weekend in June.
