LOCAL high school students battled their wits in the Monaro Leo Club Debating Tournament held on April 3.
Snowy Mountains Christian School, Monaro High School, Snowy Mountains Grammar School and Jindabyne Central School sent their top debaters to the halls of Monaro High to battle.
The teams included six Year 7-8 debating teams and six Year 9-10 debating teams.
Each team was given their topics for their three debates two weeks before the day.
The topics ranged from the banning of homework to the right to be forgotten.
Some teams came prepared others not so much.
There were plenty of laughs and lollies to be shared throughout the day and plenty of good sportsmanship and encouragement.
It was a hard and rewarding day with some losses and some wins for each team.
Overall it was a pleasant, well ran day that allowed students to network and make new friendships.
The winners for Stage 4 (Year 7-8) competition was won by Snowy Mountains Grammar School and the Stage 5 (Year 9-10) competition was won by Snowy Mountains Christian School.
