BRODY Walters has returned from a successful performance at a national event that saw him achieve multiple personal best results.
The Cooma Gun Club member took part in the National Clay Target Championships in Wagga recently.
He was the Monaro's only representative, competing over six days against the best shooters in Australia.
Weather conditions were not favourable, with competitors shooting in torrential rain and wind at times, moving the clay targets unpredictably.
Brody competed in six different events, achieving personal best results, an Australian record and an Australian title. Each event focuses on slightly different skills and shooters had to maintain concentration.
Brody's results were: Handicap, shooting of 21 metres- 47/50; Champion of Champions, which includes 25 double barrel, 25 single barrel and 25 points score off 18 metres -118/125; Double rise - 93/100, a personal best; Double Barrel 49/50; Single Barrel 99/100, a personal best; Point Score 296/300.
Brody's effort in the single barrel saw him as the overall winner of the Australian Junior Single Barrel title, also giving him an Australian record as the highest score shot for a junior shooter in a single barrel national event. Brody finished the week placing equal fourth in Australia for the under 18's age group, four points behind the leaders score.
He would like to thank Cooma Gun Club for their support and encouragement.
