COLLEEN Hood works at St. Paul's Anglican Church and is one of four local recipients of the 2014 Rotary Club Pride of Workmanship Awards.
The award recognises workers who display outstanding qualities of dedication, attitude and commitment to service.
She was surprised to hear about the nomination, and in true humility, Mrs Hood said, "Who know's why? My colleagues are so kind".
In actual fact, she received the award for her professionalism, enthusiasm, cheerfulness, helpfulness and willingness to undertake whatever is necessary to get the job done.
Mrs Hood is a people's person, and the most rewarding part of her job is the friendships she develops.
"I'm here for people during their happiest and saddest times," Mrs Hood said.
She also enjoys the variety of work.
"I never know what to expect, as people from the congregation drop in from time to time, and there's always something new happening each week."
From bookkeeping to the weekly bulletin, Colleen plays a vital role in the church, putting in many extra hours on top of her paid time.
She loves her congregation.
"There are about 55 regulars who turn up each week who have so much to offer, it's great to be a part of that."
