THE Cooma Salvation Army has appealed to members of the community to spare their time later this month to help those facing hardship.
Collectors who can spare just a few hours are needed for the annual Red Shield Appeal doorknock weekend on May 24 to 25.
Salvation Army Cooma Captain Louise Nicholson said they are hoping to raise $19,500 in the Monaro region this year.
But that target can only be achieved with the support of dedicated collectors.
"Red Shield collectors and team leaders in this region step up each year and I would like to acknowledge the incredible effort they have made," Captain Nicholson said.
The money collected from the doorknock weekend will be put directly towards supporting Salvation Army programs and social services.
The Salvation Army expects many more people will be in need of basic assistance with issues such as food stress and that's why every dollar the community can spare is vital.
You can register as a collector by visiting the Salvation Army Family Store at 221 Sharp Street.
