Cats claw Demons

The Cooma Cats continued their winning streak on Sunday with the clubs first ever appearance at Manuka Oval beating the Eastlake Demons. Cooma 23.18 (156) to Eastlake 5.6 (36).

The Cats fielded a strong and fast side on the open expanses of Manuka Oval and were soon in control in the first quarter kicking five goals to two with Tony Fleming and Luke Condon showing the way.

The second quarter the Cats piled on the pressure and only allowed Eastlake a solitary goal to Cooma's five and the game was slipping away quickly for the Demons. The Cats' defensive lines including first gamers of the year Kyle King and Chris Metten were relentless and repelled every attack.

Up forward the dangerous Kyle Hubert found his mojo in front of goal and started to kick goal after goal as he passed defenders with ease while ruckman Anthony Brennan had his best game this year for the club in the middle.

In the second half it was the Cats who stamped their mark with an eight goal third quarter before coach Asanovski eased the team through the final quarter with changes to the line up to look after his rotations and players for the weeks ahead.

The Subway player of the match was Chris Metten.
