Busy fortnight ahead for golfers

Over the weekend Cooma golfers saw some great autumn conditions with plenty of golfers enjoying possibly the last of the warm weather for the 2014 Autumn Cup.

With the MEIS day next Saturday and the Holden Scramble the Saturday after, there is plenty of good form in evidence from the last 3 days of competition to really make these two major events come alive.

On Saturday, 34 players competed in the single stroke Autumn Cup. A grade winner (and overall winner) was Steve Young with a fine 64 nett. In B grade Frank McKnight came up trumps with a fine 71 nett.

The following day, a single medley stableford was played. Dave Goggin won the day with 35 points from Tony Monday (34 points) and Heikki Evans with 33 points on a countback.

Ball winners went down to Brian Searl with 32 points. Nearest the pin on the 9th went to Brian Searl and on the 17th Phil Patricks.

The next fortnight sees two big weeks of golf. On Wednesday there is an individual stableford.

On Saturday (17th) there is the always popular MEIS charity ambrose for three players and only $35 per head for breakfast, lunch, great golf and savouries at the end of play.

Breakfast kicks off at 8.30am with a shotgun start at 9.30am so don’t be late. Sunday sees a single medley stableford competition for members and guests.

On Saturday May 24 we have the Commonwealth Motors Holden Scramble which is a 4 person ambrose kicking off at 10am. Breakfast and lunch will be available for the Holden Scramble as well.

On Sunday May 25 we have the qualifying round for the 4BBB Keno competition with the best three teams qualifying for the regional final.
