THE Cooma youth centre, The Hub, has unveiled its new amenities, to the tune of $50,000.
An official opening was held on Wednesday with a number of community representatives in attendance to mark the occasion.
The existing facilities were run-down and in need of urgent repair, with the recent upgrades decades in the making.
Under the Community Building Partnership program the grant funded three new toilets, a disability toilet, showers and a laundry space.
Cooma's YMCA Youth Project Coordinator Cathy Guion says the new facilities will provide benefits to the local youths and community groups who use The Hub.
"The old toilets were really disgusting, to a point where rain even came through the windows," Ms Guion said.
"It means the 35 plus young people and support groups who use the Hub will now have facilities they can actually use.
"They can come here to shower and to wash their clothes as well."
Member for Monaro John Barilaro attended the opening where he congratulated all the staff at the Hub for their hard work in securing the grant.
"Cooma's Youth Hub provides a setting where young people can meet, make friends and take part in structured activities in a safe and welcoming environment," Mr Barilaro said.
"The facility is a popular spot for youth in the Cooma area, so it's important that community assets such as this can be maintained for future generations."
The Hub is a working relationship between the YMCA, Cooma Monaro Shire Council and Southern NSW Medicare Local.
Local youths have their own designated space at the Hub which provides them with a safe environment to spend their time.
