CHILDREN across Australia, including Cooma, simultaneously laughed and cheered last Wednesday as they read the book Too Many Elephants In This House.
The national event was held as part of the National Simultaneous Storytime campaign which is aimed to encourage young Australian children to read and enjoy books.
The campaign promotes the value of reading and literacy whilst reading an Australian children's book that explores age appropriate themes.
This year the chosen book was written by Ursula Dubosarsky and illustrated by Andrew Joyner.
Cooma students got involved as the book was read at Cooma Library, The Hub in Cooma and at local schools.
The campaign has been running successfully for 14 years with more than 430,000 children at over 2,500 locations across Australia participating last year.
