THIS week Cooma North Public welcomed a new principal to the school as they participated in Student Principal For A Day on Wednesday.

With little experience in the field, Deacon Ingham took to the role like a professional.

"Today has been really great and so much fun, I've handed out awards and have had media interviews," Principal Deacon Ingham said.

"Tomorrow I'll be running parts of the assembly and will read to kindergarten classes."

With today being his last day as principal, Mr Ingham now has goals for his future career.

"I actually do want to be a principal when I grow up, who knows maybe even for this school."

Over 200 schools across Australia will be participating in Student Principal For A Day this week.

The day is a great opportunity for students to value the role of principal and school leadership while also giving principals a chance to listen to the voice of students.
