FOUR players from the Cooma Rugby Union Club have been selected in the Monaro representative squad to take part in the 2014 Brumbies Provincial Tournament, held in Jindabyne this long weekend.
Leighton Bates, Phil Johnson, Ryan Morgan and Pat Egan will line up for Monaro as they take part in three matches across the tournament.
The tournament brings together the best country rugby players from the South Coast, southern inland NSW and even a side from South Australia.
They helped Cooma to an impressive 47-7 victory over Yass last weekend, to celebrate 'Old Boys' day in style.
Cooma currently sit third on the Division One ladder heading into the long weekend break. After a tough start to the season, Cooma put together an impressive performance to register a win against ADFA.
The squad was picked across Monaro First and Second Division competitions. If the Cooma players impress selectors, they may find themselves chosen in a Brumbies Provincial team from across the competing areas.
This team will have the honour of playing the curtain raiser to the Brumbies and Western Force match at Bruce Stadium on Friday, July 11. They will play the Australia Police Representative Team.
John Connors Oval will host the matches, with Monaro taking on South Coast and Southern Inland to determine the winner. Matches against South Australia will not count towards the overall competition, as the state makes their first appearance in the tournament.
