Police are appealing for information after a man’s body was discovered in Thredbo River on Wednesday afternoon.
About 2.30pm Wednesday June 11, two local residents were walking along the northern side of Thredbo River, about 10km from Jindabyne, when they came across a man’s body a short distance from the bank.
Emergency services were called to the location a short time later.
The Snowy Hydro SouthCare helicopter was originally tasked out to perform a water rescue mission in Jindabyne about 3.15pm, but announced on Twitter just before 4pm that it had been called off.Officers attached to Monaro Local Area Command attended and launched an investigation into the man’s death.

A crime scene was established and examined by detectives and forensic specialists.
The man is believed to be about 60 years of age; however he’s yet to be formally identified.
While the investigation remains in its early stages, detectives do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
