COOMA Reserves took on arch rivals Bega at Bega in what turned out to be a cracker of a game.
Bega got to a 10 nil lead early before Cooma hit back to lead 12 - 10 with both sides playing tough entertaining football. The second half was a see sawing affair with neither side gaining the ascendency. With 10 minutes left Cooma hit the lead again 22 - 20 but everyone knew there was going to be another twist in this epic struggle.
With only minutes remaining on the clock an attempted kick down field cannoned into Bega and they made good metres down the field in the next set of six tackles to score a winning and heart breaking try against a courageous Cooma side to win 24 - 22.
Although there can be no consolation in losing, the effort was great from everyone. Jimmy Salvestro was outstanding and now must be close to playing first grade. Tugger Sommerville as always was dangerous, while Brett Dorward and Jack Downie had fine games.
