THE Stallions travelled to Moruya on Sunday to take on the Sharks in all four grades.
In what was a reasonably successful day Cooma came away with three wins out of the four with the juniors, league tag and reserves having hard fought victories. The first grade game however was a different story and Cooma lost to Moruya 42 - 18.
Moruya started well and with their star player calling the shots were up 8-nil after 10 minutes. Cooma finally started to get their rhythm and for the next 20 minutes matched whatever Moruya had to throw at them. This resulted in a deserved try to Cooma's best player on the day Adam Walters.
The Stallions were also hit with game ending injuries to a couple of their big men including captain coach Steve Dunn.
This left them short of reserves and they had to rely on a couple of players that had already played their respective games. For the next 20 minutes Moruya were able to cross for four tries taking the game away from Cooma. To their credit the guys kept trying and finished with four tries all unconverted, to take the final score to Moruya 42 to Stallions 18.
The effort was there but the players fell down in some areas including some simple one on one tackles and controlling the ball.
Best for Cooma were Adam Walters and Todd Williams and a big thank you to Scott Lloyd and Richard Bensley for backing and helping out even though they had played full games earlier in the day.
The First Grade have a bye next week. This will help some of the guys get over some niggles they have while the reserve grade take on Bemboka in what is a must win for them.
The 18's and League tag will take on Merimbula. All games will be at the Cooma Showground and the first game will commence at 12 Noon.
This is our second last home game so we hope to see a good crowd turn up to what the boys and girls go round.
