COOMA North Public School welcomed their newest staff member this term, Principal Belinda Jamieson.
Originally from North Sydney, Ms Jamieson has made a smooth transition from the city to Cooma during the school holidays.
Being Deputy Principal at North Sydney Demonstration School, Ms Jamieson was successful in merit selection for the Principal's position here in Cooma.
"My husband and I come down to the snow nearly every weekend in winter, we're huge ski fans. We also come down during summer because we love the region so much. So when I saw the opportunity arise I applied and it was time to get out of the hustle and bustle of Sydney," Ms Jamieson explained.
Over the past 14 years, Ms Jamieson has worked in a number of roles in the education system to help her prepare for her current position.
She began her teaching career in Auburn West in Sydney where she moved up from teacher to the position of assistant principal.
She then progressed on to become an early career teachers mentor for those who had just begun their teaching career.
Ms Jamieson is currently focused on flourishing existing school programs and meeting the needs for her current students at Cooma North Public School.
"I'm extremely excited for the term ahead. The teachers here put a lot of hard work into current programs which is great. I want to help flourish the existing programs and possibly introduce new programs as we move along," Ms Jamieson explained.
"At the end of the day it's about students and student outcomes. It's about making sure they feel valued and that they feel that school is for them."
