LAST week at Cooma Golf Club has seen some of the best weather the Snowy Mountains has to offer and with the course remaining in top condition scores reflected this. The Cotton Tails Cup is on this Sunday with the Firemans Shield Legacy Golf Day on Saturday so a huge week of golf awaits ... more at the end of this report.

Saturday August 2 saw 25 golfers contest the August monthly medal. A grade was won by Norm Marshall with a fine 74 nett. B grade was taken out by Jeff Burgess with a round of the day 70 nett. and C grade was taken out by Kerry Blencowe with a 78 nett. on a countback. Ball winners went to Tom Geach with a 77 net. A grade longest drive was won by Campbell Childs with B grade won by Gary Batten and C grade taken out by Kerry Blencowe. Nearest the pin on the 9th went to Tom Geach and Bart Joseph hit a great shot on the 17th.

On Sunday Cooma golfers participated in a single medley stableford in ideal winter conditions. Our winner was Heikki Evans with 38 points from Andrew Barnes with 37 points (on a countback from Matthew Moxon). Ball winners went down to Denis Minehan with 32 points. Nearest the pin on the 9th went to Heikki Evans (who had a great day) and Denis Minehan won the 17th.

Wednesday July 30 saw a single medley stableford contested by 27 players. Our winner was Richard Hanna with 33 points. B grade saw Josh Miller take out the prize with 36 points and in C grade Tony Slater had 32 points to edge out the C grade field for first place. Ball winners went down to Frank McKnight with 30 points. Nearest the pin on both the 9th and the 17th went to (Mr Accurate) Norm Marshall.

As earlier mentioned the Legacy Day "Firemans Shield" is on Saturday next week. With a $5000 hole in one prize, members and non-members are invited to enjoy this great charity day. 10:00am shot gun start so don't miss this one.

The nomination sheet is also up for the Cotton Tails Cup at Federal Golf Club next Sunday. With Cooma currently holding the Cotton Tail a strong contingent of golfers is required to give Federal Golf Club a real challenge on their home course.
