WILL Hampson, son of Bill and Marie Hampson, the eldest of five children from "Warragundi", has won the award for "Auctioneer of the year" at the 2014 Australian Business Real Estate Awards.

A huge crowd of more than 750 celebrated the winners of the 2014 Real Estate Business Awards at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.

The nation's best real estate agents were all in attendance on the biggest night of the year for the real estate industry in Australia.

The Real Estate Business Awards, partnered by real estate portal Domain, recognises the cream of Australia's residential real estate industry, identifying the best agents, principals and real estate offices, plus the innovators and pioneers driving the development of the industry.

" From the age of five I followed my Dad around wool and livestock auctions for 13 years with a dream of one day becoming an auctioneer," Mr Hampson said.

"In 1995 I commenced in livestock then in 1998 transitioned to auctioneering real estate. Auctioneering is a career I really love as I get to work with my wife which is not everybody's cup of tea but it works for me, I get to meet lot's of different people and see some wonderful property and places I travel to. It is a great honour to have won Australian Auctioneer of the year for 2014."

Will runs Sydney's CBD based company My Auctioneer with his wife and business partner Kate who was a fellow finalist in the auctioneer category.

" I love my career as an auctioneer, especially when I get big results for people over and above there reserve, for what to many is their most valuable asset, it can be life changing," he said.

Will lives in Manly with his wife Kate and their two boys Lewis Alexander Hampson, 3 and James Lawrence Hampson, 18 months.
