1. A Winter Wonderland
Head along to the Cooma Ex-Services Club this Saturday for the first Snow and Ice Winter Ball. The Ex-Services and Community Chest will be raising money to help those with Parkinson’s disease. A great night is expected with live music being performed by Canberra band, Hit Parade. Dress is cocktail with pre-dinner drink on arrival. Event starts at 6.30pm and tickets available from the Fabric Salon for $65.
2. Hop out for a round of golf
The Cooma Golf Club is hosting the Fireman’s Shield Legacy Golf Day on Saturday. Head down for a 10am shot gun start with heaps of prizes to be won along with a $5000 prize for hole in one! Non-members and non-handicap players welcome. Lunch is included in the cost of $30 per player. To book, phone 6452 2243.
3. Support the Red Devils in their semis
For your Saturday rugby fix, Rotary Oval is the place to be with the Red Devils taking part in semi-final action. Second grade take on Yass in the minor semi from 1.30pm and first grade take on ADFA from 3pm. Come down to support your local boys.
4. Race down to the Club for the Stallions Race Night
The Cooma Stallions will be having their 2014 Race Night tonight, August 8 at 6pm at the Cooma Ex-Services Club. The event brings the best of the club’s teams and officials in the roles they were born to play – jockeys for our very own Stallions and Fillies! Come along dressed for entry into the Members’ section of any respectable race event – ie. Ladies: dresses, heels and fascinators. Men: collared shirt and a tie is a must. Cost is $20 which includes a betting starter pack and nibbles.
5. Thredbo Top 2 Bottom Race
Strap and click in for the Thredbo Top 2 Bottom Race on Saturday. The race is held on Australia’s longest run – the Supertail. The event draws past and current Olympians and everyday hero's, it creates an experience and explosive spectacle like no other snow event. With $15,000 in cash and prizes to be won, it’s an event not to be missed! The event starts at the bottom of Kosciusko Express at 6.30am for a 6.40am race brief.
