Radio rival gives away an Alan Jones 'car and driver'

You know you're under fire when even the Triple M Grill Team are taking the moral high ground.

Triple M's breakfast radio team have today announced a competition, "Car for Comment", giving listeners the chance to benefit from the loss of its rival, Sydney breakfast radio "shock jock" Alan Jones.

“Jonesy's been a bit in the poo lately, but who hasn't?” Grill Team DJ Matty Johns began the segment.

“Jonesy's lost his car, but you know the old saying, 'one man's loss is another man's gain',” Johns continued, before announcing that the program will be giving away "Alan Jones's Mercedes Benz and driver".

The prize is use of an S-class Mercedes for the weekend, including chauffeur. Triple M have confirmed that the prize is, unsurprisingly, a car and a driver — not the actual ones used by Jones, although Johns added that the car has an “all-leather interior, including the driver, who may be dressed in leather”.

To win, listeners must appear on any another radio station and “say nice things about the Triple M Grill Team”, explained Grill Team's Mark Geyer.

The show then played some sound-clips of this being done in the past on shows on rival stations.

Jones, whose breakfast show is on 2GB, was forced by sponsor Mercedes-Benz to return his free car amid the public furore over his comment at a fundraising event that Prime Minister Julia Gillard's father had "died of shame".
